Whether it is one clear difficulty or many things that have come to a head, her approach is steady, reflective, and insight-oriented, offering a consistent space to explore how past experiences and relationships may be shaping present-day life. She works with adults who want to understand themselves more deeply and make lasting changes, as well as those who may be unsure exactly what they are coming for but know something needs attention. Her areas of expertise include working with the impact of childhood experiences, relationship dynamics, chronic health conditions, complex trauma, grief and bereavement, and men’s mental health. She holds a BSc in Psychology, MSc Health Psychology, H.Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an MA in Psychotherapy. Her clinical focus is on how early experiences shape the internal world, often in ways that are outside conscious awareness. She works with clients to explore the different parts of self that can come into conflict, such as protective strategies, younger emotional states, and harsh inner narratives, and how these affect present-day life. Ruth works particularly well with those who feel uncertain about therapy or find the process difficult to trust. She offers both consistency and challenge, helping clients think more deeply about their emotional lives while maintaining a clear and containing therapeutic frame. She offers short or long term therapy depending on what feels most appropriate for the work. Therapy with Ruth is not about symptom management. It is a process of psychological inquiry aimed at lasting internal change and a clearer, more coherent sense of self.
